You’ll want to stick to your recommended oil change schedule for your Porsche. However, you may need to change your oil sooner if you experience any of the following:

• Dashboard warning lights flash
• Decrease in performance
• Engine knocking sound
• Oil smell inside the cabin
• Dirty or grimy oil

Usually, Porsche cars can go anywhere between 7,500 and 10,000 miles before needing an oil change. Keep in mind that this can vary depending on your driving habits and the specific kind of Porsche you drive, so check your owner’s manual or reach out to Porsche Ontario for a more specific recommendation.

During an oil change, the oil inside the engine is drained and replaced with new oil. When you have your oil changed, you should always have the oil filter replaced as well so that it can filter the new, clean oil.

Some Porsche models have a dipstick or an electronic oil level gauge. If you have a dipstick, locate it on the engine, take it out, and wipe off the oil with a rag. Put the dipstick back inside the engine, and take it out again. If the oil is at the “Full” marking on the dipstick, then there’s enough oil in the engine, but if it’s below that marking, you’ll want to have the oil replaced.

If your Porsche has an electronic oil level gauge, use the scroll button to check the oil level.
