When Should I Replace My Porsche Key Fob Battery?
Below are signs that you should replace the battery in your Porsche key fob:
- Reduced range
- The push-button start, for certain models, fails to recognize your Porsche key fob
- Lock, unlock, and trunk release buttons fail to work
This may seem like a huge problem, but don’t worry, replacing the battery is a simple task.
How Do I Replace the Battery in My Porsche Key Fob
- Release the emergency key.
- With the emergency key partly in its chamber, pull it away from the key fob, using it as a lever to lift the battery casing free. Alternatively, some key fobs require you to fully remove the emergency key and use a small screwdriver to open the battery cover.
- Remove the old battery and insert the new one, ensuring it’s facing the correct way.
- Put the cover back on by placing it in its original position and either applying force or screwing it back in. Finally, put the emergency key back into the fob.
If your key fob is still not working properly, please bring it to us here at Porsche Ontario as the key fob may have a larger issue like broken battery contacts or dysfunctional buttons.
